About / Real and material

LensTutorial also functions as a DOF calculator giving you the numbers you can trust.

LensTutorial tries to be as close to the real world as possible. We’ve taken real lens controls as prototypes and tried to use rotation metaphor as main gesture in the app.

Visualization allows you to estimate what part of the scene in real world your model will occupy at given distance and focal length, how much Depth of Field you have at your disposal and what are the near and far ranges of DOF. You also get hard numbers measured in units of your choice.

Photographic model depicted in the simulation represents an average adult male person with arm span around 160 cm (5’3”). In reality you have to account for interpersonal differences related to sex, height and figure.
